Day 1: Monopoli

Day 2: Pescara

If the town is famous for its port, it's also famous for its sandy beaches, green pine forests and Castellammare Adriatico, a district renowned for its Art Nouveau buildings and sumptuous villas that bear witness to the town's prestigious past.

Day 3: Ancona

A city of art founded by the Greeks, it is divided into two parts: its thousand-year-old historic center and its modern part. From the city's highest point, discover the Cathedral of Saint Ciriaco, before descending to the port to admire Trajan's triumphal arch and the remains of the Roman amphitheatre. Day 4: Ravenna

Located on a craggy peninsula with a baroque bell-tower that soars above the ochre rooftops of its ancient buildings, the narrow cobbled streets and little port, this is one of the prettiest towns on the Slovenian coast. Ship at anchor, water sports not available.

Capital of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, the port city occupies a narrow strip of land between the Adriatic coast and the Slovenian border. From markets to the uber famous Promenade, it cultivates a love of flowers and the arts. It is full of vitality with ambiances that range from neoclassical elegance to the up-beat tempo of the old quarter. Boat docked, no water sports. Boarding and disembarkation port of call.

Day 10: Brindisi

This ancient port city of Imperial Rome was the gateway to the Orient and a point of departure for the crusaders. The old town faces out to the horizon and is full of churches basilicas, fountains and oratories. Ship docked, no water sports.

The old town of Otranto, located in Puglia at the heel of the Italian boot, is absolutely splendid. Its surrounding ramparts that protect the Aragonese castle, its white alleys and the pretty view of the small fishing port give it the appearance of an Arab town. Boat at anchor, beach, dive locker closed.
